Dear APAN members and friends

ACTION ALERT We firstly want to thank people who have already got behind our petitionfor Australia to support Palestine’s bid at the UN.  We need to keep building our number of signatories in the next few weeks if we are to take a strong message to Foreign Minister Carr.  Can people please e-mail the link for the petition throughout their networks, (as well as repost on facebook twitter etc) (http://www.communityrun.org/p/YES-Palestine), and if you prefer print out a hard copy to collect signatures and then send back to [email protected] by the 12th November.

APAN also encourages individuals and organisations to send an individual letter to the Foreign Minister, Bob Carr.

APAN was a proud co-facilitator of the national solidarity weekend which gathered over 60 people from around Australia to discuss work for Palestine.  At the end of the weekend there was a statement and press release issued under APAN’s name.

APAN also held its AGM on the 23rd of September, which included electing a new Executive.  We are very grateful to the work of Executive Members who retired at the AGM: Mr Robert Newton; Mr Kris Hanna; Mr Yousef Alreemawi and Mr Issa Shaweesh.

Another highlight of the month was hosting Ilan Pappe as he addressed over 170 people at the National Press Club on the 19th September.   See photos or watch broadcast.
