I note that the White House has published a readout of President Biden’s call with Prime Minister Netanyahu, which, amongst other things, includes an affirmation that there will now be a continued flow of humanitarian assistance into Gaza. Have you had a chance to see that statement or information yet, and, if so, obviously that is something I’m sure we would all welcome. I just wanted to give you an opportunity to do so.

Senator BIRMINGHAM: I want to continue with some elements of the PM’s travel, but I might pause for a second, Minister, noting that you were doing some work and probably dealing with some messages or other information. I note that the White House has published a readout of President Biden’s call with Prime Minister Netanyahu, which, amongst other things, includes an affirmation that there will now be a continued flow of humanitarian assistance into Gaza. Senator Wong: The opening of a humanitarian corridor to enable the delivery of aid to Gaza is something we have been calling for and advocating for for some time. It was included, as you will recall, in the bipartisan motion passed by both chambers of the parliament. I don’t have further information on what will occur. Obviously, there’s been a lot of work done by the US and regional countries to facilitate this. It’s been difficult, and the humanitarian crisis continues to worsen, so it is a good thing if we can see a flow of humanitarian assistance. As you know, the government has already pledged an initial $10 million for Gaza.

Senator BIRMINGHAM: I’m sure we will all look to the details of this and hope to see that continual flow.
