Land, Biodiversity & the Colony with Prof Mazin Qumsiyeh

May 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

series of knowledge shares in the lead up to Prof Mazin Qumsiyeh’s visit to Naarm next month & the event we’re hosting him alongside First Nations scholars Zena Cumpston & Tristen Harwood, @beiteshai friends & supporters on the 9th May at Aunty Alma Thorpe’s Gathering Place in Preston.

One of these knowledge shares is in the form of a podcast, more specifically a fill-in on Marroushti’s radio show on 3CR community radio station I did last week (thanks Mirna for the opportunity & helping me promote this event on @salaamradioshow).

You can access the recording of this episode on 3CR radio station’s Salaam Radio Show’s page or on my website rashatayeh.com — the easiest way to get a clickable link is the linktree in bio at @beiteshai (above) titled: Knowledge Share | Land, Biodiversity & the Colony | introduction & podcast.

In the bio you will also find other useful resources & link to Prof Mazin’s recent article on the Impacts of militarism on the environment.

My intention with these resources, is that guests arrive to the event with some basic prior knowledge, in the hope we can elevate our conversation at the event. In other words, do your homework before coming, to get the most out of our generous offering on Land, Biodiversity & the Colony.

The response to the event has been pretty huge, with over 100 tickets already sold. So get onto it.
The event will be in English & Auslan.

Huge thanks to everyone who donated to the GoFundMe campaign to ensure this event is made possible. Be sure you email [email protected] to claim your comp tix as a donor so you dont miss out if we reach capacity.
Palestinian & First Nations communities the event is free for you to attend, but you still need to RSVP by selecting the “Community Ticket” at the bookings link, for guest list & venue capacity purposes.

I want to acknowledge too the cultural responsibility and colonial load (and violence) Palestinians and Aboriginal communities are constantly navigating in times of unspeakable grief.

Be kind. Stay human. Stay tender.
