On Thursday 28 November, on the eve of International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, people who represent the diverse field of education in Victoria, as well as the broader community including families, will gather to attend the Vigil for Scholasticide in Palestine.
The vigil will be a space to honour our fallen colleagues and students in Palestine and acknowledge the devastation and destruction caused by Israel’s genocide of Palestinian people, particularly Israel’s destruction of Palestinian schools, universities, libraries, museums, archives, and hospitals – all places of research, teaching, and learning – and Israel’s brazen and targeted attacks on students, teachers, and academics.
The vigil is being organised by a group of people who represent the diverse Victorian education sector, including members from the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) and the Australian Education Union (AEU) who are also members of respective groups advocating for an end to Israel’s ongoing genocide and scholasticide in Palestine.
