SUMMARY:Pals for Palestine Fundraiser Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Palestine still needs your help! Over the past 2.5 years\, the world has watched scenes of horror unfold in Gaza\, Palestine\, as innocent civilians\, including children\, are killed\, despite the ceasefire agreement. The genocide must stop NOW. \nWe’ve teamed up with Corner Stone Cafe\, a Palestinian-owned cafe at UTS in Ultimo\, and Nesma from Palestinian Hands\, to deliver a buffet-style lunch. There’ll be some exciting raffle prizes up for grabs too\, including a spa voucher\, vouchers from Ho Jiak and Where’s Nick Wine Bar\, blocks of Palestine Chocolate\, soulful products from Magenta House Redfern\, Better Read than Dead voucher\, maamouls from Yafa Sweets and more! \nAll  profits will be donated to the World Central Kitchen that is still able to operate in Gaza. In March 3\, 2026\, some of WCK’s trucks made it through the Gaza border. Their founder José Andrés has more: “Some of our trucks made it through the Gaza border today\, which is good news. Every day we need more trucks and more food so we can keep feeding hungry families. But it’s not enough. We need a constant flow of food and fuel. Every day. All the humanitarian groups need their trucks to go through\, especially with medicine and medical supplies. This is the lifeline for Gaza and it needs to stay open. \nBuffet Menu: \nAppetisers:\n• Musakhan rolls: Flatbread rolls filled with seasoned chicken\, onions\, and sumac\n• Fresh vegetable salad: A selection of seasonal fresh vegetables\n• Yoghurt with cucumber: Creamy yoghurt mixed with fresh cucumber and a hint of mint \nMain Courses:\n• Maqluba with meat: Spiced rice cooked with eggplant and tender pieces of meat\, served as a traditional flipped dish\n• Mujaddara (vegetarian): Lentils cooked with rice\, topped with crispy fried onions\n• Vegetarian lasagna (prepared by Nidal from Cornerstone Cafe):  Layers of pasta with fresh vegetables and a rich tomato sauce \nDessert by Afandi Cafe:\n• Palestinian Knafeh – a dessert made with kadayif (spun pastry dough) layered wtih cheese adn soaked in a sweet\, sugar based syrup called attar \nBooking is essential!

SUMMARY:Until the Sky Falls Quiet 2 day online event - Australia-wide
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 2 day\, Australia-wide online event. \nOn the first night\, you’ll get to watch the documentary Until the Sky Falls Quiet\, followed by a discussion with doctors – Dr. Siraj Sira and Dr. Sanjay Adusumilli – about what they saw\, treated\, and carried home. Khaled Shakhshir\, who is the Executive Producer of the documentary and also an engineer and humanitarian aid worker who worked in Gaza’s Al Aqsa Hospital\, will also be joining the discussion. Emily Davis\, one of GetUp Australia’s Senior Campaigners\, will be moderating. \nThe film is raw and intimate\, it is mostly filmed on the doctors’ mobile phones\, while they deal with the realities of trying to provide live-saving medical care in Gaza. If you can\, consider watching it with someone else. It’s a heavy film and sometimes it helps to sit with it together. \nOn the second night\, we turn to what comes next\, bringing together advocates\, community voices\, and legal experts like the Executive Director of Australian Centre for International Justice\, Rawan Arraf\, and Commissioner Chris Sidoti who is a member of the UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory\, including East Jerusalem and Israel. Katie Shammas (Executive Officer\, APAN) and Sarah Schwartz (Executive Officer\, Jewish Council of Australia) will also be joining the conversation. Award-winning writer and human rights lawyer\, Sara Saleh\, will be moderating. \nTogether\, they will unpack Australia’s role\, the realities of international law\, and how we sustain meaningful action and solidarity over time.

DESCRIPTION:On Palestine Prisoners’ Day (April 17)\, join Free Palestine Melbourne for a screening of Tomorrow’s Freedom\, a feature documentary on imprisoned Palestinian political leader Marwan Barghouti. \nMade over the course of five years\, Tomorrow’s Freedom gains intimate access to the Barghouti family. SUMMARY:Panel Discussion and Screening of Gaza Nippers: Hope Amid Devastating
DESCRIPTION:Sutherland Greens are delighted to be hosting a Kirrawee screening of Gaza Nippers\, the heartbreaking yet inspiring film about children in Gaza growing up under siege. \nThe film charts the dream of starting Gaza’s first surf club: the goal was to bring joy\, hope and safety to children in Gaza. It began in 2019 when two young men from Gaza came to Australia to train as surf lifesavers at North Steyne Surf Life Saving Club in Manly. The aim was for them to learn what it takes to run a Nippers program\, and to take that knowledge back to Gaza to begin a culture of surf life saving education. \nThe Manly community was keen\, and the program was gaining momentum. On returning to Gaza\, Mohammed Saleh set up a Nippers programme and with his friends began to build the first surf lifesaving club in the Middle East. Children there loved the program. These young surf lifesavers found a freedom and joy in the waves. But after one successful season\, four of the children were killed in air strikes: they were aged six\, seven\, nine and 10. Other adults supporting the program were also killed in Israel’s bombardment. \nThese children faced unimaginable loss\, but through their eyes\, we witness a Gaza rarely seen: full of courage\, community and the enduring spirit of childhood. \nUltimately this film stands as a powerful testament to resilience. \nAfter the screening audience members are welcome to stay for a panel discussion with\n– Gaza Nippers filmmaker Majed Badra\,\n– Shamikh Badra\, the co-ordinator and founder of the Gaza Nippers Project and member of the Northern Beaches Committee for Palestine\,\n– Greens Federal Senator Mehreen Faruqi\,\n– Ken Davis\, adviser to APHEDA\, Union Aid Abroad\, and recipient of the Ronald Wilson Human Rights Award\, for his contribution to advancing human rights.\n– Maya Verma\, refugee advocate\, and member of Bundeena for Palestine. \nThe screening will be at Kirrawee Library Theatre on 11 April\, at 1pm for a 1.15 start. \nPlease be sure to book to secure your seat: https://greens.org.au/nsw/GazaNippersFilm \n#sutherlandgreens #gazanippers #gaza
