Professor Fakhri is a leading international voice on food sovereignty and has been outspoken in exposing Israel’s use of starvation against Palestinians in Gaza.  \nWe will also hear from Hiba Farra\, APAN Vice President\, who will share more about APAN’s work and the importance of sustaining advocacy\, campaigning and movement-building for Palestinian justice and liberation in Australia. \nAcross the evening\, guests will hear from our speakers before sharing dinner and conversation\, followed by a live auction\, raffle and silent auction. We’ll close the evening together with Knafeh and Dabke.  \nThis year’s auction will feature significant Palestinian works and items\, including art prints by Sliman Mansour\, a limited-edition signed print by Nabil Anani donated by Zawyeh Gallery in Ramallah\, alongside artworks\, clothing and pieces by Palestinian artisans. \nEvery ticket\, bid and donation directly supports APAN’s ongoing advocacy\, campaigning\, and grassroots organising efforts for Palestinian justice and liberation. \nGet your tickets here \nWe look forward to welcoming you!

SUMMARY:Central Coast Screening of The Doctor's Wife
DESCRIPTION:“When you’re a heart surgeon\, that’s what you do… If you are his wife\, you tag along and find something useful to do.” \nThe Doctor’s Wife is a documentary that shows the humanity of everyday Palestinians\, pre 2022\, as told through the eyes of a retired NZ heart surgeon\, his wife and two committed female filmmakers who were told in 2006 that no one cares about old people\, sick Palestinian children or Palestine. While Dr Alan was operating\, Hazel took herself all over the West Bank and Gaza\, volunteering to help in refugee camps\, schools and community centres. \nAfter retiring from a distinguished career as a cardiac surgeon in New Zealand\, Dr Alan Kerr led a Kiwi team to Gaza and the West Bank to operate on children with heart disease. What started as a two-week visit became an enduring 20-year commitment to Palestine\, involving 40 medical missions to Gaza and the West Bank and hundreds of operations. \nAfter the film\, we will hold a talk that traces the history and geography of Palestine from the period before 1948 to the present day\, offering a more in-depth insight into the struggle Palestinians face every day to keep their rich history and culture alive. This includes continuing with Olive harvesting. \nDue to limited venue seating\, we ask that you please bring along your own chair\, bean bag\, or pillow to ensure you have a comfortable spot. \nWe hope you can join us for an afternoon of history\, solidarity and community.

SUMMARY:Close Pine Gap spy base
DESCRIPTION:On July 19 at 1pm Stop the War on Palestine will protest at the U.S. Consulate in Sydney demanding the closure of the Pine Gap Spy Base. \nThe action will coincide with the national convergence on Pine Gap where activists from around the country will converge on Arrernte lands in the Northern Territory to demand the closure of the base and Indigenous land back. Protests will take place around the country to coincide with the convergence. \nThe US-run Pine Gap spy base in Central Australia plays a key role sending military intelligence that assists Israel’s genocide in Gaza as well as the Israeli and US wars in Lebanon and Iran. Since the 1960s the Australian government has hosted the spy base\, which has been described as “America’s most valuable intelligence site outside US soil”. Its role makes the Australian government deeply complicit in Israel’s genocide. \nStop the War on Palestine is organising a bus to the convergence from Sydney. We expect to leave Sydney on Wednesday 15 July and return on Thursday 23 July. Please donate now to help us get to the convergence.

SUMMARY:Community Rally: Rosebank Stop Arming Genocide
DESCRIPTION:Rosebank Engineering is the sole supplier of the uplock actuator\, which opens the bomb bay doors on the F35 fighter jets relied on by Israel to carry out its genocidal bombardment of Gaza and Lebanon. \nRosebank’s parent company\, ASDAM\, also owns Levett\, Marand and TAE\, making it Australia’s largest supplier of components to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Jet Program. Since 2011 the Federal Government has provided a total of $78m AUD to expand Australia’s role in this program\, $48.5m since October 7th 2023.\nRosebank has received the lion’s share of this public money\, at $30.2 million. \nA coalition of local Palestine advocacy groups are coming together to rally to demand an end to the complicity on our doorstep. \nThis action will coincide with the Close Pine Gap Sacred Pine Gap Convergence organised by Anti-Militarism Action Network and Mparntwe for Falastin and others. \nIt will be a family friendly event\, with a broad range of speakers\, that aims to build community opposition to the military ties that fuel Israel’s genocide established and maintained under the watch of the Councils\, State and Federal Labor Governments.
