SUMMARY:Film Screening: Palestinians Don’t Need Sidewalks
DESCRIPTION:‘Palestinians Don’t Need Sidewalks’ takes us on a journey through occupied Palestine. It profiles\, through Palestinian eyes\, life under Israeli occupation. The film builds on the investigation\, by a Jewish professor\, a Palestinian student activist and a former politician\, into Israel’s settler colonial\, apartheid society as documented in “Palestine Under Siege”. From before 1948\, the Zionist project has been working to ethnically cleanse the country of Palestinians. \nThe film also investigates Australia’s complicity with the Israeli-US genocide of Palestinians. Both major Australian political parties are endeavouring to reinvigorate our manufacturing industry by integrating it into the US military supply chain. \nThe film’s length is 71 minutes and will be introduced by former Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon then followed by a Q&A session and a conversation with: Joh Reynolds – the film co-producer\, Professor Peter Slezak and Ahmed Abadla. \nThe event will also include a tribute to the film co-producer and John Reynolds’ partner Jill Hickson who passed away last month.

SUMMARY:Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk - Palestinian Film Festival Special Screenings - Melbourne
DESCRIPTION:The Palestinian Film Festival Australia presents PUT YOUR SOUL ON YOUR HAND AND WALK \nCinema Nova\n6:50pm\nThursday 13 November \nTwenty-five-year-old photojournalist and poet Fatma Hassona dedicated her life to documenting the reality of Palestinian existence in Gaza. Through intimate video calls with Iranian filmmaker Sepideh Farsi throughout 2024\, she created a visual diary of her people’s struggle\, capturing the suffering of displaced and orphaned children whilst maintaining an unwavering message of dignity\, humanity and hope\, even as missile strikes rained down around her. \nTwenty-four hours after the film’s Cannes premiere was announced\, an Israeli airstrike killed Fatma and her family in what was alleged to be a targeted assassination. \nPut Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk is more than powerful cinema; it’s a tribute to Fatma’s memory and an urgent call not to look away from injustice. This is a documentary that demands to be witnessed. \nPut Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk \n \nPUT YOUR HAND ON YOUR SOUL AND WALK | IN CINEMAS NATIONALLY ON NOVEMBER 20
