March 2024 | APAN visit to Federal Parliament & ongoing engagement with MPs
Advocating for foreign policy change to see concrete action towards the prevention of genocide; building awareness of anti-Palestinian racism in the Australian community and beyond. Engaged with federal MPs from across the political spectrum, and amplified the voices of the Palestinian community and movement.
March 2024 | Participation in the presentation of the ‘Gaza Plea for a Common Humanity’ to federal parliament
Collective action by civil society groups to advocate for more humane government policy and action to end Gaza genocide. Solidifying of networks within the Palestine solidarity movement on this continent; advocacy for foreign policy change.
April 2024 | Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh Tour
Built community awareness of ecocide in Palestine; offered diverse communities access to and insight into unique Palestinian perspective on Israel’s ongoing oppression of Palestinians. Greater international awareness of ecocide, as it relates to Palestine. The amplification of Palestinian voices, experiences and political aspirations.
May 2024 | Palestine Solidarity Conference
The 2024 Palestine Solidarity Conference offered participants the opportunity to connect, learn and plan joint actions with other solidarity organisations and individuals who are passionate about Palestinian liberation and social justice. The program included panel discussions, in-depth lectures as well as planning sessions with the aim of coordinating our efforts to advocate more effectively together for Palestinian justice, liberation and self-determination.

The Advocacy Toolkits provided our supporters with useful and practical tools for continuing their Palestinian advocacy.

December 2023 | National Day of Action for Palestine
APAN worked closely with grassroots activist groups across the nation to organise a mass mobilisation on the 10 December 2023.
January 2024 | Email Campaign: Australian government support the ICJ case
The International Court of Justice case by South Africa against the state of Israel has become a turning point in international politics. APAN led an email campaign demanding that the Australian government acts to prevent genocide in Gaza. With the provisional ruling that Israel may be committing the crime of Genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, Australia must do all it can to prevent genocide.
January 2024 | Global Day of Action for Palestine
Following an international call for a global day of action, APAN worked closely with grassroots activist groups across the nation to organise a mass mobilisation on 13 January 2024.
January 2024 | Australia Reinstate UNRWA funding email campaign
Australia’s decision to freeze its funding to UNRWA is an act of collective punishment of the millions of Palestinians who rely on the agency for their very survival. And it’s a violation of Australia’s obligations under the Genocide Convention. Australia must reverse this decision and continue to provide funding and humanitarian aid to UNRWA and Palestinians in Gaza.
February 2024 | Jerusalem (Al Quds) Peace Prize
APAN worked with Professor Emeritus Stuart Rees AM to award this year’s laureate Dr Helen McCue AM of the Jerusalem (Al Quds) Peace Prize. The Jerusalem (Al Quds) Peace Prize recognises the inspirational and extraordinary contributions and devoted efforts of Australians seeking to aid Palestinians in their call for justice.
February 2024 | Internship
The internship program offers participants the opportunity to gain practical knowledge in the fields of advocacy, lobbying and organising, by providing an immersive “hands on” experience where you can apply and develop relevant skills working alongside APAN staff and executive board. The internship is for Palestinian youth and highly competitive.
February 2024 | Ceasefire & government poll released
The results from a national YouGov poll in early November found a majority of Australians believe the Australian government should call for a ceasefire and that 46% of Australians believe that the blockade on Gaza is not a reasonable act of self-defence.

February 2021 | Senator Penny Wong speaks at APAN dinner
The Hon Senator Penny Wong, Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs spoke to an APAN dinner attended by over 200 people.
Senator Wong praised APAN’s work for Palestinian human rights and reaffirmed Labor’s support for a just and lasting peace. Senator Wong reaffirmed ALP policy that calls on the next Labor Government to recognise Palestine as an important priority. She also spoke strongly about Israeli annexation of the West Bank and called for the reinstatement of funding to UNRWA and AMENCA. “Peace cannot be one-sided; nor can it be imposed” she said – we couldn’t agree more.

APAN is proud to be working with award winning Palestinian playwright and poet Samah Sabawi on The Book Room – a series of monthly interviews with authors that highlight Palestinian and Australian Indigenous authors. Our February event features award-winning author and academic Dr Randa Abdel Fattah who discusses her new book Coming of Age in the War on Terror.
February 2021 | Parliamentary launch of joint statement on antisemitism
APAN was proud to work alongside the Australian Jewish Democratic Society to release a joint statement on antisemitism. The parliamentary launch, which had been delayed because of COVID restrictions, was co-hosted by the Parliamentary Friends of Palestine and was attended by 11 parliamentarians, parliamentary staffers and members of the Palestinian Delegation.

APAN is proud to be working with award winning Palestinian playwright and poet Samah Sabawi on The Book Room – a series of monthly interviews with authors that highlight Palestinian and Australian Indigenous authors. In January, to coincide with Invasion Day, the event featured award-winning author, academic, and activist Tony Birch in a discussion about his new book White Girl.
December 2020 | Short video on antisemitism
Following our joint statement on antisemitism, APAN and the Australian Jewish Democratic Society released a short video.
Released for Human Rights Day, it shows how Palestinians and Jewish people, both from oppressed groups, are natural allies in the fight against all racism, including antisemitism.
