A new narrative for solving the Israel-Palestine conflict

ABC RN Drive

Orly Noy, a Mizrahi Jew, a journalist and a political activist in Israel and Sara Saleh, a Palestinian human rights campaigner with the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network, talked to ABC RN Drive about the discrimination of Mizrahi Jews and Palestinians in Israel/Palestine and the need for a new non-Zionist narrative to address this marginalisation.

Politicians have long argued about the road to a peaceful end of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Jared Kushner’s notion of “economic peace” is the latest contribution to a long, torturous, violent conversation.

Orly Noy, a Mizrahi Jew, a journalist and a political activist in Israel, is visiting Australia for a series of talks.

She believes Arab Israeli’s and Mizrahi Jews could provide a unique perspective on the pathway to peace in the region.

Sara Saleh is a Palestinian human rights campaigner with the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network.

They both joined RN Drive.

Editor’s note:

Following a complaint about this program, a counter view on the treatment of Mizrahi Jews and Palestinians in Israel was sought and presented.  The interview with Israel’s Deputy Chief of Mission Ron Gerstenfeld is available here:

Israeli diplomat talks about the place and history of minorities in Israel

ABC News acknowledges that this broadcast did not provide sufficient context on the status of Mizrahi Jews in Israel; it is well documented that Mizrahi Jews are prominent in business, politics, and the military and they have the same voting, legal, civil and religious rights as Jews of European background.
