“We know not all countries are perfect, but not all countries commit crimes against humanity” –  Vice-president of the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network, Nasser Mashni.

Palestinian advocates have expressed disappointment with Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s dismissal of a report condemning Israel for committing the “crime of apartheid”.

Amnesty International accused Israel of subjecting Palestinians to a system of apartheid that amounts to “a crime against humanity” in a new report (SBS).

When asked about the matter, Morrison dismissed the report and reaffirmed Australia’s support for Israel (ABC).

“No country is perfect and there are criticisms made of all countries, but I can assure you that Australia and my government, in particular, will remain a staunch friend of Israel,” Morrison said.

Vice-president of the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network, Nasser Mashni, said Australia should immediately impose an arms embargo on Israel, recall our ambassador and implement sanctions.

“We know not all countries are perfect, but not all countries commit crimes against humanity,” Mashni said.

Israel rejected the report and accused Amnesty of pouring “fuel onto the fire of anti-Semitism”.
