Samah Sabawi of the Australian Palestinian Advocacy Network spoke to ABC AM about PM Scott Morrison’s announcement of being open to moving Australia’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem in what she claimed was an act of “appeasing the “alt-right” at the expense of what is right and what is just and what is lawful under international law.”

In what would be a major policy shift, the Prime Minister Scott Morrison has indicated he is open to moving Australia’s embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

It would follow the US President Donald Trump’s decision to relocate his country’s embassy.

The Twitter account of the Israeli Prime Minister says Benjamin Netanyahu and Mr Morrison have had a phone conversation about it, and it says Mr Morrison is also prepared to officially recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Mr Morrison will outline a foreign policy statement on Israel today.
