Party positions on the Question of Palestine
September 2013 Federal Election, Berowra electorate, New South Wales
Thanks for your note regarding the Coalition’s position on Palestine.
The Coalition strongly supports a lasting and sustainable peace solution in the Middle East and the rights of the Palestinian and Israeli peoples to live peacefully and safely within internationally recognised borders.
We believe this can be achieved by accommodating the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people with recognition of Israel’s right to exist through a two-state solution.
A Coalition Government would support international efforts aimed at achieving a lasting two-state peace settlement between Israel and the Palestinians.
Whilst I am aware that this is an important issue for many voters, I believe at this election the most important issues are linked to the cost of living.
Between now and the election, we will continue to release further details of Our Plan to build a strong prosperous economy and a safe and secure Australia.
Thanks again for your note.
The Hon. Philip Ruddock MP
Federal Member for Berowra
