The suppression of free speech and academic freedom on Australian university campuses has escalated in the wake of the genocide in Gaza and the increased solidarity with Palestine. Students, academics, and members of the public have faced or are at risk of facing disciplinary action, censorship, and intimidation for speech on Palestine.
In response, the People’s Inquiry into Campus Free Speech on Palestine has been established by a coalition of activists, academics, students, and legal experts. This inquiry is open to the public, and public hearings may be organised where appropriate.
Australia Palestine Advocacy Network is on the inquiry panel, along with representatives from the National Union of Students, Students for Palestine, and the Jewish Council of Australia.
