APAN Study Tours
APAN’s unique study tours witness, share and learn about Palestine and the Palestinian people through interactions with Palestinians, their organisations, and communities. Our tours interact with Israeli communities and organisations, Australian diplomats, United Nations officials, human rights organisations, Australian-funded aid projects and much more. If you want to learn about the contemporary – and historical – issues of the modern Middle East, and see the reality on the ground, then this tour is for you.
Other tours to Palestine
There are many groups that offer tours to and within Palestine. Here are a few that Australians have told us that they’ve found valuable.
Alternative Tourism Group
This Palestinian led centre has many immersive programs – including olive-picking and planting and home-stays. They also provide a range of short-term tours and are leaders in promoting ‘justice-tourism’.
Breaking the Silence
Led by former soldiers who now want to expose the Israeli public to the reality of everyday life in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. These day tours to Hebron and the South Hebron Hills are incredibly powerful.
Machsom Watch
Israeli peace-activist women lead these powerful tours through the ‘seam-zone’ in the North of the West Bank – where participants meet with Palestinians stuck between the wall, the Green Line, and Israeli settlements.
Know Thy Heritage
Tours tailored specifically for Palestinian youth in the diaspora. Australians have gone on their own or as a group – and highly recommend it.
Amos Trust
Specialising in ‘doing’ tours – walking, running, cooking, cycling, rebuilding demolished homes. Focus on building partnerships and solidarity.
Sabeel Witness Tour
Led by Palestinian Christians, these tours are tailored to Christians who seek to explore the area with a faith perspective as well as a political lens.
Grassroots Jerusalem
Stunning 3.5 hour political tour of Jerusalem. APAN highly recommends this tour, and integrates it into our study tours.
ICAHD - Israel Commitee Against House Demolitions
This longstanding Israeli solidarity group runs tours from half a day to ten days. They run annual rebuilding tours where they rebuild houses demolished by the Israeli military.
Green Olive Tours
Green Olive tours has a variety of different tours and tour leaders working under its banner. Tours include day tours around the West Bank and Israel; as well as multi-day tours. Their longer tours include home-stays; walking tours and cycling tours.
