November 2021 | Parliamentary Friends of Palestine online event in solidarity with Mohammed El Halabi

As part of the ongoing campaign to free Mohammad El Halabi, APAN, alongside other organisations, convened an online event with the Australian Parliamentary Friends of Palestine. Attended by politicians from all major parties, representatives heard from a range of key speakers, including Mohammed’s father, Kahlil, who spoke of the injustices committed against his son and his desire for freedom.

November 2021 | Palestine National Day

More than 100 people joined APAN as we celebrated Palestine National Day 2021 both online and offline, with a small covid-safe gathering in Melbourne’s Federation Square. Senator Lidia Thorpe was the first key speaker and discussed the links between Palestinian and Aboriginal Australian struggles for self-determination, followed by several speeches and readings from Palestinians in Australia. The event culminated with the raising of the Palestinian flag, and a farewell from dabke performers celebrating their traditional dance.

October/November 2021 | Speak up for Palestine

Over seven weeks, 12 young Palestinians in Australia participated in a public advocacy and training program, developed to strengthen their ability to become a more confident and persuasive advocate for Palestine. The training culminated in an online speaking competition, which saw a Best Speaker awarded, as well as two runner-ups.
