The winner of the 2021 prize is Aboriginal Gumbaynggirr intellectual, activist, academic, writer, storyteller and actor, Dr. Gary Foley, who is currently Professor of History at Victoria University. This video, produced by APAN is about the short yet rich life of the renowned Palestinian artist, Naji Al Ali, who was shot and fatally injured by an Israeli Mossad agent in London. Naji had succumbed to his wounds almost 40 days later, and was pronounced dead on 29th of August 1987.
