HCW4PalestineQLD & AHAP ‘Life Support’ – Documentary and Q&A

‘Life Support’ is a full-length documentary that captures the unique eye-witness testimonies of international doctors who have been to Gaza over the last two years.
Given the ban on international media, the doctors become the eyes and ears of the world. Led by Dr Nick Maynard, Dr Victoria Rose and Dr Tanya Haj Hassan, the film is structured around their visceral, first-hand footage from inside hospitals. As the doctors’ videos chronicle their experience working in extreme conditions, footage shot for our film by local cameramen gives us access to everyday life in Gaza beyond the headlines.
This screening will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Dr Zewlan Moor, a general practitioner and children’s book author. She, like many others, has taken a principled stand in defence of health workers and the fight of the Palestinian people.
Q&A conversation featuring:
- Dr Saya Aziz: a wife and mother of two small children. She’s an Australian consultant anaesthetist and humanitarian who has recently returned from her second medical mission inside Gaza.
- Dr Nada Abu Alrub: an Australian humanitarian doctor of Palestinian and Iranian heritage. Her work embodies the heart of medicine: humanity, dignity and the courage to stand with those who need us most.
Content Warning: contains graphic and distressing scenes including images of severely injured children and starvation.
