Perth Doctors MAP screening “All That’s Left of You

October 22 @ 9:30 PM – October 24 @ 12:00 AM

The Oscar nominated film ‘All That’s Left of You’, a sweeping historical epic of exile and memory, will be screened by Perth Doctors Medical Aid for Palestine next Thursday Oct 22 at Camelot Indoor Cinema, Mosman Park.

Directed by Cherien Dabis, and produced by Mark Ruffalo and Javiar Bardem, the film follows a Palestinian family’s story of hope and courage through the course of almost eighty years of relentless struggle, from the Nakba of 1948 right up until the present day, and how this struggle conditions the relationships between the family members.

Doors open at 5:30 pm for pizza and drinks, with the film commencing at 6:30 pm. After the film, humanitarian nurse Amy Curtis will talk about her recent work in Gaza, as will Hiba El Fara, a Palestinian lawyer and Vice President of APAN, whose own family endured a fate similar to the multi-generational chronicle of suffering and steadfastness that the film portrays. All proceeds raised from the screening go towards vital medical and humanitarian aid for those whose lives have been devastated by war.

Perth Doctors-MAP, a group of over 130 senior Perth doctors, have been fundraising and advocating for almost three years. The money that they have raised, over 900,000 dollars so far, has been used to build two schools (which have allowed over 700 children to return to learning), and to provide meals, shelter, and clean drinking water to thousands of families. They have provided the funds needed for otherwise unaffordable medical surgeries and treatments, as well as for maternity packs for some of the almost 60,000 pregnant Palestinian women who receive little or no maternity care. In alliance to these efforts, they also support a number of Palestinian Medical students through scholarships and grants.
