APAN Strategy 2026 – 2028

Approach

Decolonial

We centre Palestinian truth, voices, expertise and lived experience. We work in close solidarity with First Nations people on this continent and support their campaigns, initiatives and calls for justice and self determination. We do not reinforce zionist propaganda, narrative or frameworks

Decentralised

As a peak body of advocacy for Palestine we support groups and individuals advocating for the Palestinian cause with tools and guidance.

Palestinian-led

We are connected to Palestinians in the homeland and work in alignment with their political demands (Al Thawabet)

Localised

We contextualise our work by understanding our local context, honouring the diversity of the movement and crafting a strategy that is effective, evidence based and relevant to our local socio-political landscape

Purpose

APAN facilitates a strong, strategic and sustainable movement that advocates and takes action for Palestine until liberation and self-determination are realised

Vision

A world that upholds Palestinian freedom, justice, and self determination.

Outcome One:

A diverse local movement that is grounded in Indigenous self-determination, well connected to Palestinian civil society orgs, and that is putting pressure on institutions, adopting BDS and advocating for Palestine

We will achieve this by:

  • Growing our supporter and membership base
  • Embedding Anti-Palestinian Racism into broader anti-racism frameworks
  • Working on actions with our First Nations community
  • Connecting with Palestinian civil society
  • Up-skilling our young people and our grassroots partners

Outcome Two:

Policy makers at all levels of government and the media are increasingly reflecting the demands of the movement

We will achieve this by:

  • Lobbying and meeting with elected officials to gain their support on Palestine
  • Engaging with unions and Labor branches to pass motions that align with our demands
  • Collaborating with others to gain greater political and community support for our political campaigns
  • Working with the media to support Palestinian voices and stories

Outcome Three:

Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions is being strategically implemented in the local context and increasingly understood and actioned amongst organisations and individuals

We will achieve this by:

  • Delivering the BDS super campaign
  • Working with grassroots organisations
 on their own BDS activities
  • Aligning our work with the BDS National Committee

Outcome Four:

An organisation that is strategic and efficient, with sustainable funding, engaging comms, and a supportive and collaborative work culture.

We will achieve this by:

  • Implementing an operational improvement plan, including a new organisational structure and internal processes
  • Developing and delivering more effective approaches to communications and fundraising
