Three years of the recent chapter of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza

We remember the martyrs, the tens of thousands of Palestinians who have been murdered in Gaza and the West Bank, and Palestinian political prisoners held hostage in Israeli dungeons.

We acknowledge and stand in solidarity with those who remain steadfast in their resistance, students attending schools and universities, journalists reporting the truth about the continued genocide, doctors and health workers tending to the wounded and working under inhuman conditions, and entire communities protecting their land.

We also acknowledge the millions who continue to march and take action in the face of increasing censorship and attacks on our movement.

APAN stands firm in our demand that the Albanese Government introduce a comprehensive arms embargo, impose sanctions against those responsible, and end its complicity in war crimes. Israel continues its unrelenting genocide on the remaining Palestinians in Gaza, restricting humanitarian aid; meanwhile, Israeli forces and marauding settlers continue their pogroms across the occupied West Bank. APAN condemns Australia’s refusal to confront Israel with meaningful consequences and demands an end to the trade, investment and military ties sustaining its war crimes.

Today, Israel continues to practice occupation, apartheid and ethnic cleansing. There is no ceasefire. More than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, with thousands still missing beneath the rubble. Israel’s restrictions on essential humanitarian aid, including vital medical supplies, continue to collectively punish and deny items essential to Palestinians’ survival. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reports that 94 per cent of Gaza’s population urgently needs shelter and basic household assistance, while shortages and entry restrictions disrupt life-saving treatment as winter arrives

Across the illegally occupied West Bank, Israeli forces and settlers are driving Palestinians from their ancestral lands through violence, demolitions and illegal settlement expansion. In just one week, OCHA recorded 51 settler attacks causing casualties or property damage, and demolitions displaced 147 Palestinians, including 73 children. The violence is drastically escalating as Israeli elections loom.

APAN condemns these attacks as part of Israel’s systematic effort to bring about the destruction of Palestinians and deny their right to live freely on their land.

As we commemorate 3 years of genocide, APAN affirms our commitment to a Free Palestine. We have seen a global shift – communities, and increasingly institutions and governments, are taking steps to hold Israel accountable. We have seen banks and sovereign wealth funds divest,  weapons stopped at ports, and countries increasingly implementing sanctions.

In September 2026, twelve countries, including the United Kingdom, France and Canada, finally introduced new measures including restrictions on settlement goods. Australia must follow with similar actions and sanctions in recognition that settlers and settlements are illegal under international law.

Our pressure is working. We will continue to mobilise at our work, schools, on the streets, and in our communities, until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea.

Nasser Mashni, APAN President, said:

“Three years into this genocide, the overwhelming will of Australians continues to be ignored. This must stop. Australians do not want to be complicit in genocide.

“Australians are more likely to be arrested for protesting genocide than for complicity in it.

“Australians in their tens of thousands will be out in force across the continent demanding our government sanction Israel, end the two-way military trade and expel the Israeli ambassador.”

Hiba Farra, Vice President of APAN, said:

“For three agonising years we have marched through the streets of every city across Australia as though we were part of one enormous funeral procession; we have carried people we never met towards a last goodbye they were never meant to have and yet, somehow, by the end of each march, we had buried them all inside our hearts.

“We will remember their names, their faces, their voices, their dreams and aspirations, and will not give up on ensuring every government is held accountable for its complicity and lack of action.

“We bear witness that governments have failed Palestine, and it failed to stop Israel’s genocide even as it unfolds before our very eyes; we remain steadfast and will not stop marching and speaking out against this great injustice

“A third year of an ongoing genocide has passed, and we vow to continue to mobilise and to speak out until Israel is sanctioned and is held accountable and Palestine is free from the river to the sea “

APAN demands that the Australian Government immediately:

  • Impose meaningful sanctions on Israel, including officials, institutions and businesses responsible for or materially supporting genocide, unlawful occupation, apartheid and ethnic cleansing
  • Ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements, including settlement goods and services, and prohibit Australian investment and financial dealings that sustain settlement expansion, including the E1 project.
  • Implement a comprehensive two-way arms embargo, covering weapons, ammunition, military components, technology and services, including transfers through third countries.
  • End public investment in companies enabling Israel’s crimes, including through the Future Fund, and prevent Australian public money from supporting genocide and unlawful occupation.
  • Pass the Red Lines legislation to stop Australia from arming, funding, investing in or profiting from genocide, war crimes and unlawful occupation.
  • Expel the Israeli ambassador and end diplomatic business as usual while Israel continues its crimes against Palestinians.
  • Support international accountability and Palestinian survival, including cooperation with international courts, sustained funding for UNRWA and humanitarian relief, and concrete pressure for unrestricted entry of aid, medical supplies, shelter materials and reconstruction equipment.

APAN stands with Palestinians grieving loved ones, surviving displacement and resisting dispossession, and with communities across Australia continuing to demand justice. Ahead of the Global Day for Gaza on 11 October 2026, APAN urges Australians to mobilise and demand government action.

Three years of ongoing genocide should shame every government that has refused to use its power to stop it. Another expression of concern or condemnation is not enough and is an insult to Palestinians still fighting to survive. The Albanese Government has been warned, presented with evidence and offered concrete measures. Its continued refusal to impose meaningful consequences is a political choice that shields Israel from accountability and deepens Australia’s complicity.

APAN vows to continue to mobilise and speak out until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea.
